The RPCAEF Inc was founded by the Railroad Passenger Car Alliance Board of directors as a not for profit corporation to collect and distribute information about Railroad equipment. The RPCAEF Inc.’s mission is to make the information on railcar maintenance available in both printed medium and as informational classes to the men and women that maintain rail cars or who have an interest in the proper maintenance of rail cars.

AIR BRAKE 101

 

Thursday, January 14th, 8:00 AM till 5:00 PM the cost will be $250.00 per student.

 

This will be a one day, all classroom course. It will cover FRA rules, the history of air brakes, an explanation of freight brakes, theories of air brake operation, various passenger brake schedules, auxiliary equipment, and review of the single car test device and procedures. A passing familiarity with air brakes and their function is beneficial.

 

 

 

AIR BRAKE 102

 

Monday, January 18th, 8:00 AM through noon Thursday, January 21. The cost will be $850.00 per student.

 

This class will be taught by up to two instructors to a maximum of 8 students. This will be a 4 day course consisting of approximately 2 days of classroom instruction along with hands-on instruction on a freight car brake system and on a passenger car equipped with a 26C airbrake system (work clothes required). Successful completion of this course, which includes passing all of the written and skills tests, will result in the issuance of a certification card by the RPCA Education Foundation. Successful completion of AIR BRAKE 101 is required unless the student passes an alternate written test.

 

 

 

AIR BRAKE 102-Recertification

 

Monday, January 18th, 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM. The cost is $150.00 per student.

 

This class is designed for persons who have previously completed the 102 class and who are certified to perform single car air tests. To comply with 49 CFR, Part 239.109(b)(11), this course will provide refresher training that includes two hours of classroom and four hours of hands-on training, including information on updates to the single car test codes.

All RPCA Education Foundation courses include written training materials, which the student keeps at the end of the course. All courses include a written test. Students who complete the course and pass the test will be given a certificate of achievement. Students passing the AIR BRAKE 102 course will receive a certification card good for three years.
